Neurologic Music Therapist

Rebekah Stewart completed her undergraduate degree in voice performance at Azusa Pacific University and her Masters degree in music therapy at the University of Missouri- Kansas City.  In 2013, Rebekah completed the training institute at the Center for Biomedical Research at Colorado State University and became certified in the Robert F. Unkefer Academy of Neurologic Music Therapy.

Rebekah has clinical experience working with a wide variety of populations in various settings including but not limited to Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, neurologic rehabilitation, developmental disabilities, pediatrics (general, oncology, rehabilitation), at-risk adolescents, and more.  She has experience working with interdisciplinary treatment teams, and initiated the first ongoing interdisciplinary collaborations between the music therapy and rehabilitation departments at Garden Terrace at Overland Park- an Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence.  Rebekah has supervised practicum students from the University of Missouri- Kansas City.  She held a research assistant position at the University of Missouri- Kansas City where she helped to complete various research papers and presentations, and has given multiple presentations at regional conferences and continuing music therapy education events.

Rebekah maintains an active membership in the American Music Therapy Association and currently serves as the Continuing Education Committee Representative for the Midwestern Region.
