Neurologic Music Therapist  – This is an additional training that we have attended in order to utilize evidence based techniques and engage in deeper discussion of the neuroscience of music.

Certified Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS)  – Sarah Thompson is the only music therapist in the state of Colorado who has earned the designation Certified Brain Injury Specialist. Qualifications to earn this credential include spending over 500 hours with individuals with brain injury (acquired brain injury and traumatic brain injury), and passing the CBIS exam.They must also satisfy continuing education requirements every year in order to maintain this.

Leaders in Dementia Care – This is a designation awarded by the Alzheimer’s Association. All therapists at Rehabilitative Rhythms have attended continuing education specific to this population and the company has met the requirements to earn this designation.

Allied Team Training for Parkinson – This is a 3.5-day training that educates professionals about providing the highest quality care to individuals living with Parkinson’s disease and their loved ones.


Sarah was given the Change Maker Award by the American Music Therapy Association in November of 2013.  In April of 2014, she was given the Service Award by the Midwestern Region of the American Music Therapy Association.
